Most of all he loves soft fuzzy things. He needs his fuzzy blanket in the crib to cuddle up with. I think he learned this as a self-soothing method. When he was itty-bitty I would hold the side of his face in my hand so he would feel the warmth and I would brush my fingers or something fuzzy over his face. This would help him relax somewhat and finally fall asleep. Now I can lay him in bed on his own without any problems.
Mornings are his cuddle time. When he wakes up he makes sure to grab his blanket before he gets picked up. Usually he ends up snuggling with Grandma for a while. He likes to be leisurely about waking up. But once he has decided to get up, snuggling is officially over. It's go time!
Sometimes he drags his blanket around the house and then lies down on it anywhere it suits his fancy. Now Levi has taken to dragging blankets around too. The other day William had one corner and Levi the another corner. William was leading and Levi following him all over the house. Levi thought is was funny.
My son has a one track mind and that track oftentimes is headed for my iPhone. There has been a progression of hiding places for this phone. I used to hide it in my bra so that it was always nearby. Eventually he figured that out and he was always pulling my shirt open and reaching inside. Well that was unseemly so I had to find a new place. The next place was on top of the sewing machine cabinet. He was smart enough to grab the top of the cabinet and grip with his toes on the bottom lip of the cabinet to hoist himself up. He couldn't let go to grab anything but he could see what was up there. But he could then figure out where to reach for it when his feet were on the ground. Next place was on the kitchen counter. Then William grew tall enough to reach over the top of the kitchen counter and search with his fingers for it.
Now I have been placing it on the changing table because it has a deep lip that makes it hard for feeling around and it prevents him from seeing anything up there. Well....now he has figured out how to climb up the shelves and can stand up there with a grand-stand view of the table. I don't like him doing this because I'm afraid he might someday pull it over on himself so I am constantly watching for this. Anyway, he hasn't been able to let go and grab anything off of the table; until now. I just saw him climb up there and grab my phone and then let himself down with one hand.
I suppose I am onto finding the next hiding place.
