A few evenings ago the boys got into their first brawl.  It was amusing and it wasn't.

Levi is constantly stealing from William and William doesn't defend himself or fight back.  Instead he stands there and cries.  I keep making Levi give back whatever he takes.  He understands me fully when I tell him to "give it back to William."  Levi will walk back to brother and start handing it back to William.  Sometimes he doesn't let go of the item and will yank it back and take off again.  And sometimes he will give it back and once William has had it for a second or two then Levi will rip it back out of Williams hands or in the case of the pacifier, out of his mouth.  It is as if Levi has it in his head that he needs to give it back and wants to.  But, his hand has a mind of its own and all it knows is "I need to have it."  Oh my, oh my.  He has been quite the challenge.

So back to a few days ago.  Levi took something from William and William got very angry.  He tried taking it back.  Good for you William.  But then Levi didn't want to give it back.  There was a tug of war with hollering.  At some point Levi fell down on his bottom but William was still fighting back.  Somehow he got his fingers in Levi's mouth and pulled up and then stumbled away.  The fight was over.  Levi started crying.  He was very upset that he lost the battle.  Neither one of them were hurt in any way.  But it was quite the display of tempers.

I would like to think that Levi will not continue to be so agressive.  I am trying to teach them the concept of sharing and waiting for a turn.  Sometimes I do it with their water or milk cup.  They take turns sipping and waiting.  Usually it goes well and they seem to understand that they will again have a chance at it.  However, things do not go as smoothly when they are no longer confined to their chairs.

Sometimes I think William is at his wits end with Levi.  For now Levi wants to copy or take over anything that William is doing.
